For children
Build steady foundations in listening, rhythm, technique, and expression so young learners grow to love music instead of fearing it.
Music-first viola teaching and performance in Hong Kong for children, adults, and families who want a deeper, more joyful relationship with music.
About
Vincent Yeung is a Hong Kong-based violist and music educator. After beginning on the violin at 13 and moving to the viola four years later, he found in the instrument a voice shaped by warmth, listening, and inner support.
Currently studying viola performance at Hong Kong Baptist University under Dr. Felix Ungar, Vincent works across solo playing, chamber music, and teaching. His musical development has included competitions, festivals, and masterclasses with artists including Irene Lachner, Dr. Min-Jeong Koh, Juan-Miguel Hernandez, and Joel Smirnoff.
Alongside performance, Vincent teaches with an encouraging, music-first approach. Through community work in HKBU Project MuSE and private teaching, he has supported children from under-resourced backgrounds, adult learners returning to music, and families looking for a healthier balance between progress, confidence, and long-term musical enjoyment.
Lessons
Lessons are built around musicianship, confidence, and enjoyment. Exams can be part of the journey when they are helpful, but they are never treated as the whole purpose of learning music.
Technique, reading, and discipline matter most when they help students understand and enjoy what they are playing.
Exam preparation is available for families who want it, but musical understanding and confidence always stay at the center.
Experience in HKBU Project MuSE reflects a teaching style shaped by patience, encouragement, and care for students from different backgrounds.
