About Vincent Yeung

A fuller introduction to Vincent's work in viola performance, chamber music, and encouraging music education.

Vincent Yeung (BMus, HKAPA; BA(Music), HKBU) is a Hong Kong-based violist. He is currently studying MA Music Performance at Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). He began on the violin at 13 before switching to the viola four years later, and studied primarily under Dr. Felix Ungar.

Vincent has taken part in festivals including Ljubljana Music Festival and Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, where he received masterclasses from Prof. Hartmut Rohde and Prof. Barbora Hilpo. He has also worked in masterclasses with Irene Lachner, Dr. Min-Jeong Koh, Juan-Miguel Hernandez, and Aurelie Entringer.

As an ensemble musician, he has served as concertmaster of the Northwest New Territories Symphony Orchestra and principal viola of the Hong Kong Baptist University Orchestra and Collegium Musicum Hong Kong. He has also performed with Opera Hong Kong Orchestra, Greater Bay Area Philharmonic Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Orchestra, Hong Kong City Philharmonic, and Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong, collaborating with artists including Maria Wloszczowska, Andrew von Oeyen, Bart van Oort, and Colleen Lee.

Chamber music remains central to his work. Recent projects include a public international performance of Brahms's Quintet with Prof. Anna Gerbert, and the Hong Kong premiere of an arrangement of Viet Cuong's "Next Week's Trees" with players from Colin Currie Quartet and Toolbox Percussion.
